Born an underdog

I was born an underdog. By the age of 12, I had 21 surgeries for spina bifida. Bullied, underestimated, counted out. I learned early on in life that nothing would come easy.

There were moments when I doubted my ability to succeed, frustrated by all the obstacles in my way.

But I’m living proof that you don’t give up just because things get difficult. This is the story of an underdog who became a front-roller for the United States Senate.
