IOWA — we did it!

What they said was impossible. Together, on Tuesday, we proved that the impossible was possible.

As we said in the primary, and I’ll say it again, Iowa sure does love an underdog!

After 448 days of hard work, pushing up hills, knocking doors, visiting all 99 counties, visiting small and midsized communities all across Iowa, and preaching a message of a better future for Iowa, we made history.

On Tuesday, we outvoted the billionaires. We outworked the corporate PACs. And we told every single corrupt politician: enough is enough.

For the first time in 20 years, Iowa will have representation in the United States Senate for the PEOPLE of Iowa.

I’ve said all along that my story is truly the American Dream.

Only in America could someone born into a working-class family in Council Bluffs, Iowa, who went through the economic and health struggles that I went through, ultimately be able to represent my country in four Paralympic Games, win two gold medals, and represent my community in the Iowa legislature.

Only in America could someone like me be elected to represent the state I was born and raised in, the state I love, in the United States Senate.

Only in America is this possible.

And as Iowa’s next senator, I vow to protect the American Dream for future generations.

To each and every person who knocked doors, made phone calls, donated money, put up a sign, and most importantly entrusted me with your vote, thank you.

To my wife, my family, my friends, thank you for your support and for believing in me.

To my staff and our volunteers who put their lives on pause because they believed in what we were doing, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

We have done something truly historic. And I am proud to be your Senator-elect.

Now the real work begins to change this state and change our country.
