“Front-roller”
I was born with club feet, without a hip socket, massive back problems, and had my first surgery at one day old. My wheelchair’s been my main ride for as long as I can remember.

That’s why stock political phrases like “step up,” “take a stand,” “running for office,” and “frontrunner” always give me an ironic chuckle.
Since stepping, running, and standing aren’t my forte, my staff and I have had fun coming up with our own jargon. A few team favorites:
Pushing for change
Front-roller
Wheeling and dealing
Zooming past the competition
Ramping up our voter contact
Rolling out my vision for a better Iowa
On a more serious note, my disability actually gives me an edge in some aspects of politics.
First, because my shoes last a lot longer than your average candidate’s.
Second, because no matter how nasty this race gets, it still won’t be the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
I went through lots and lots of brutal experiences growing up: 21 surgeries by age 12. Severe bullying. A million frustrations and obstacles every day.
Those experiences weren’t pleasant, but they gave me the thick skin and iron will that helped me go from underdog to front-roller for Iowa’s U.S. Senate seat.
With your help, I’m gearing up to take on Ashley Hinson. Once that’s complete, Iowa will finally have a “Sitting Senator” — pun intended — who fights for the people.

Thanks so much,
